Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing
In the winter, the Kackar are covered with deep snow, which can be 2-3ms deep. Most of the passes across the range are over 3000m high and covered in snow until July.
If you want to explore the area in the spring – when the sun is shining but there’s still snow in the upper valleys and passes – snowshoes are a useful lightweight addition to your trekking gear. You will also need gaiters (to stop snow getting inside your boots) and trekking poles (to keep you upright).
In the spring, you can choose from a variety of day walks from a fixed base at a centrally heated hotel or to carry your own overnight gear and camp in the snow. Snowshoes allow you to move easily over soft snow on most gradients. To come down, you just take your snowshoes off and slide down the snow.
